Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), following an agreement on technical cooperation with the Government of Nepal, has been assisting in the technical cooperation for the "School Health and Nutrition Project" since June, 2008. The Project is a joint operation with the Ministry of Health and Population and the Ministry of Education, the "Government of Nepal, and based on the "National School Health and Nutrition Strategy" which was endorsed in 2006. The mandate of the Project is to improve the health and nutrition status of school-aged children in Nepal.

The Project invites application from the qualified Nepali professionals for the following post.

Field Project Officer – Two

Based in the Department of Health Services in Teku, Kathmandu and the Department of Education in Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, under the overall supervision of Project Team Leader, the incumbent will perform the following core functions:


• Assisting with designing, coordinating, preparing, conducting and monitoring of various trainings and workshops at the district, VDC and school level in the Project Districts: Sindhupalchowk and Syangja Districts,

• Assisting with developing training manual/guidelines as well as various Advocacy and IEC/BCC materials of School Health activities,

• Activating, guiding and motivating schools to implement School Health activities,

• Frequent visit to the Project Districts as and when necessary,

• Liaise with the governmental focal persons and all stakeholders within the Project Districts,

• Assisting with disseminating the National School Health and Nutrition Strategy at the district level.

QUALIFICATION:

Master's degree in Education, Public Health, Rural Development or equivalent degree in relevant field from a recognized university, minimum 5 years of experience in international development agencies/ institutions as a trainer and/or community level worker of health promotion programs, various experiences in school health programs, excellent communication in oral and written English and Nepali, good computer skill (MS Word, Excel, Power point) and willingness to travel frequently to the field. Preference will be given to those candidates who have experiences of working with the government at the field level and have outstanding communication skills to motivate and inspire all levels of stakeholders.
